Cartoonists are my favorite visual artists. Every image they draw is a painting in itself, lettering and onomatopoeias adding life to each of their drawings. The lettering itself is an art when you know how to appreciate it. That is probably why I never liked computerized lettering for a cartoon. Above all, as a bonus, there is a story behind the drawing, stories that often have a funny endings. A good cartoonist who is also a good storyteller will easily carry us into his imaginative world. I personally love the synergy between words and drawings. When one identifies with the hero or anti-hero of the story, the magic works at full capacity. In my workshops, I distribute a theoretical booklet with drawing exercises and caricatures because you have to master them before drawing cartoons.
